This original A4 oil pastel painting (21 × 29.7 cm) is part of my 365-day daily painting project, created in Lisbon, Portugal. The work captures a cluster of pink tulips immersed in an intense yellow field, where light becomes almost physical. The saturated background does not sit behind the flowers — it surrounds and pushes through them, creating a sense of warmth, energy, and emotional immediacy.
The tulips are built through layered, expressive strokes rather than clean outlines. Greens, pinks, and deep purples mix directly on the surface, allowing the form to emerge through movement and contrast. Oil pastels give the piece thickness and texture, with visible gestures that reflect a fast, intuitive process.
This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork on paper, signed and part of an ongoing exploration of color, floral forms, and emotional states. It works well as a vivid accent piece in contemporary interiors, especially for collectors drawn to bold color combinations and expressive botanical art.
