This painting is part of my 365 Daily Painting Reflections project, where I create one artwork every day throughout the year.
Day 44 was inspired by Kraków, one of the most atmospheric cities in Poland. The painting captures the distinctive cathedral towers and domes using loose watercolor washes combined with expressive liner pen drawing. The ink lines keep the architecture lively and slightly imperfect, like a quick sketch made while observing the city.
Warm earthy tones of the brick buildings contrast with the cool blue sky, creating a soft sense of depth and movement. The combination of watercolor and pen allows the architecture to feel both structured and spontaneous at the same time.
This piece reflects the charm of historic European cities and the beauty of capturing a place through quick, intuitive sketching.
